PEER/Participate
BRIDGE ACADEMy 2011/2012
Emma Hart is working with the Art Department teaching staff to make a positive statement about the real benefits of visual arts education through a series of workshops at PEER.
Arts Education is being threatened. Government policies such as the E-Bac, university tuition fees, and the national curriculum review are acting to undermine the future presence of art within a secondary school. This in turn is influencing the uptake of the subject amongst students and generally devaluing the importance of art as a subject.
Through discussion, practical exercises, photography and projections Emma is working with the teachers to make a manifesto and build a joint picture of why arts education is so vital.
