Implicasphere* is a series of broadsheet periodicals published three times a year. Each issue loosely parcels cultural fragments around a theme chosen for its rich and multiple associations. The content is something like a free-flowing conversation between a diverse group of specialists around a pub table, where ideas and knowledge unfold along unexpected lateral lines. Implicasphere draws its material from across fields and eras of knowledge and ideas, gathering anthropology, fiction, folk legend, art, reportage, biography, philosophy, astronomy and hobby craft. Reviving the old is as important as anticipating the new.

The first issue deals with the phenomenon of string, a surprisingly prevalent material and metaphor and a prime subject of implicaspherical thought.

 

Issue 2, Mice

Mice provoke surprising chains of implicaspherical thought; as matter and metaphor they lead us through the cultural larders of many eras. The mouse dwells at the edges of acceptability, yet scurries through the very fabric of our lives, influencing the development of medicine, while filling our children’s heads with charmingly poignant tales. Implicasphere suggests that the destiny of mice and men overlap more than we realise.
