In collaboration with Hoxton-based ceramic studio Troy Town Art Pottery and artist Cecily Loveys Jervoise, Peer hosted a clay-making workshop.
Taking inspiration from Iris Touliatou’s exhibition, Outfits, and her research into the ‘Jennings Dog’ statue, participants were invited to work with clay to make their own animal sculptures.
BIOGRAPHIES
Cecily Loveys Jervoise is an artist who graduated from Kingston School of Art in 2020 and is now a student on Alternative Art MA School of the Damned. Her sculpture and learning projects work with the more-than-human world to tell stories, look closely and play with material cycles. She often uses clay she digs in the ground and natural dyes to explore tactility, narratives and collaboration.
Troy Town Art Pottery is Aaron Angell’s ceramic studio. It is a radical and psychedelic workshop for artists. It was opened in 2014 and has worked with over 80 artists in the UK. We now work with up to ten artists per year to produce ceramic sculpture in a high-craft environment using traditional and innovative processes. Connected to the Hoxton Street community garden in the East End of London, Troy Town Art Pottery provides free residencies for artists, the majority of whom have not worked with ceramic material before.
