Our growing community of supporters help us to sustain our critically acclaimed programme – from commissioning artists to make new work, to delivering an events programme that brings communities together and supporting local young people in their professional and creative development.
The work Peer does is caring, ambitious and necessary. We are shaped by people invested in building a fair and equitable society and we bring this ethos into all facets of our work.
We are unique in our approach which is afforded to us by the scale of our team – because we are small, we are able to be responsive to the needs of the artists, young people and communities we work with.
Peer is a registered charity and part of Arts Council England's National Portfolio. We fundraise for 100% of our programme, as well as 67% of our overheads from Trusts and Foundations, edition sales and the generous support of our Patrons.
In a national context where artists earn a median income of just £12,500 per year, and where the arts sector has lost over 40% of its local authority funding since 2010, our work has never been more critical, or more vulnerable.
Please consider offering your support and joining our community today. Your support will help make a major impact on Peer’s future success.
The following indicative costs demonstrate how your contribution can help Peer’s programme:
- £1,000 pays for 25 hours paid work (at London Living Wage) for three 17 - 25 year olds participating in our Peer Ambassadors programme as experience as visitor assistants.
- £3,000 supports a programme of participatory workshops with one of our local partners or goes towards an artists’ fee to produce new commission.
- £5,000 match funds A New Direction’s contribution towards our Programme and Communications Assistant role for one year, providing paid traineeships for young East Londoners with local art and cultural organisations.
- £10,000 goes towards the production of a new commission by an artist presented as an exhibition.
