Peer presented an artist talk with Savinder Bual and curator and educator Amanprit Sandhu, where they discussed Bual's exhibition at Peer, Ananas and The Flatfish. During this online event, they spoke about the ideas and beliefs that drive Bual's work, forthcoming projects that she was working on, and audience members were able to ask questions.
BIOGRAPHIES
Amanprit Sandhu is a London based curator and educator with a focus on commissioning, performance-based practices and collaborative approaches to working. Her work includes organising the inaugural biennial programme for Brent in London, and co-curating the 2021 Boras Art Biennial in Sweden. She was the co-founder of the curatorial collective DAM Projects (2014-20), whose work supported underexposed artists, art scenes, discourses, and socio-political debates in the UK and internationally. Other previous roles include: Interim Curator at Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridgeshire, Public Programme and Residencies Curator at Camden Art Centre, Project Manager for the 2014 Folkestone Triennial and 2012 Frieze Foundation projects, and Assistant Curator at the Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art. She is a Curatorial Practice tutor on the Curating Contemporary Art MA at the Royal College of Art, and visiting tutor on the Fine Art BA at Chelsea College of Arts. Between 2017-20 she was a trustee at Arts Catalyst.
Savinder Bual (b. 1976, Hitchin, UK) has a BA in Fine Art from Winchester School of Art (1998) and an MA in Photography from The Royal College of Art London (2010). Solo exhibitions include Javasu featuring text works by Sarah Boulton, Caraboo Projects, Bristol (2019); The Drawing Center, New York (online, 2016); Pinjekan, Minories Gardens, Colchester (2015); Organism, iD TOWN, Shenzhen, China (2014); Ahmed and Carpenter Presents: Frogfullness, Rogue Project Space, Manchester (2013) and Savinder Bual Flying Works, Little Victories Gallery, Shanghai (2013). Bual has participated in numerous group exhibitions at institutions across the UK including Standpoint, London; University of the West of England, Bristol; Bow Arts, London; Legion Projects, Glasbury, Wales; and Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, Wales. She has also taken part in a number of residencies and in 2020 was awarded a Jerwood Bursary and a-n Artist Bursary. She lectures and has been involved in a number of talks and publications.
